New BJJ Blue Belt Team Silva
I got my BJJ blue belt last night. I feel elated. Thanks to all who helped made this possible. Thanks to Master Sergio and my brother Matt, my first instructor who got me hooked. Thanks to Derrick, DT, and Manny for being good instructors. Thanks to my fam and friends for the support and encouragement. Last but not least much thanks to my training partners in Hayward and Alameda, we help each other grow...OSS!
I started a new blog for Team Silva BJJ recently.

1st J.Lee.Invitational
It seems like that we'll be having a J.Lee Golf Invitational whenever we can get all of us together for a round of golf. A couple times a year is very doable. This first Invitational was held in San Rafael. I didn't play this time since it's been about 2 years since I had a golf club in my hands and plus it was a good opportunity for me to catch the action with my camera.(Props to Lee for bringing it since I left it at his pad a few night before!)
The plan was to play the 9 hole course two times but ended up playing it once. We could have gone either way but we decided to play it once so we can keep tabs of the female World Cup and because we were all ready to eat some good BBQ courtesy of Jason.
Good food and good company. Thanks Jason for setting it up.

Lake Elizabeth
Some family time at Lake Elizabeth Park this Sunday Afternoon. Ronald busted out his Nikon D40 so I snatched it for a moment and put my SD card in and went shooting.
I like the contrast and picture sharpness of the D40. The APS-C size sensor creates amazing pictures(compared to point and shoot sized sensors that I'm accustomed to) even with the standard 18-55mm kit lens. The weather was good. It wasn't too hot and it got a bit windy before we left. Wanted to take more pix but battery was dying. There's always next time.

Nike Free 7.0 v2 Review
![]() |
Got some new running shoes last week mainly because I got a good deal and by good I mean great lol. Anyway, I haven't ran with them outdoors yet but have used them at the gym and have been wearing them casually this past week.
The shoes are very comfortable. It seems to have extra cushion where the foot arches. I thought that would have been a bad thing but after wearing them it wasn't. The Nike Free 7.0 v2 doesn't have much support for the ankles but you can't expect much ankle support from running shoes regardless.
All in all, very comfortable, light and flexible(you can easily bend the toes all the way up). Durability remains to be seen but I can assume it will last as long as any other running shoe or maybe slightly less. It's a great shoe to run on that simulates running barefoot other than the Vibrams is what I've heard.

World (Mundial) Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championship 2011
| Walter Pyramid. seats 5k. |
It was the first time ever going to Mundials in Long Beach, CA. Tons of the elite bjj players competed last weekend. The quarter and semi finals matches were great but it seemed like during the finals they started playing a little safe which is totally understandable. It was fun seeing Kyra, Kron, Cobrinha, Caio, Marcelo, etc. compete live. Cobrinha's post fight interview on stalling from Graciemag
Some things to note. I wish the Acai bowls were just a bit larger for 6 dollars. Also wish they had Brazilian BBQ like they do at Pan Ams. I was glad that my brother's girl brought her laptop so I was able to transfer my videos to her laptop so I can record more (over 2 1/2 hours worth of matches total).
| Lol you can see Galvao right side middle. |
| 10 matches at once. At times I didn't know which match to watch since many were competitive. |
